The punishment

Many people completely agree that, the law is aimed at providing safety to citizens and society. All people who have activities that cause harm to others must be punished. However, fixed punishments or giving consideration to individual cases always causes a lot of opposite arguments. This essay will discuss the topic of punishments in more detail.

First of all, speaking about fixed punishments, we understand that the law has never discriminated someone who is rich or poor in a high position or low position in society. When they commit a crime, they will have to receive an heavy price from the punishments. This fixed system protects law strictly and clearly, and also helps courts to judge easier. If the system is broken, it will give opportunities for an increase of other crimes such as corruption and fraud. For example, a killer can only be punished by a fine instead of a capital punishment. This is if a government do not have a fixed punishment for guilty killer or murderer. The other views are that many people oppose the system of fixed punishments when they argue about the circumstances of an individual crime. They think, it should be taken into account if the accused has ever served in the army or had individual circumstances such as their mother or children who can not look after themselves. In addition, society always changes and it brings about alternatives of points in law that need to be applied better in other periods of time. Many people also think that we need to give other opportunities to people who have never committed or may be only once in their lives. When they are made aware their mistakes, they will try to live an incorrect life again with their efforts.

To sum up, these arguments bring logical and scientific views to the thinking about whether society should or should not caccept fixed punishments. In my view, it is not important to agree or disagree about it because the problem is that punishments help guilty people to alter how they behave and their attitudes about living a good life without crimes.
